    Poor Johnny!

In this episode we watch our brave men rescue a man hanging from a tower, rescue two people with botulism, and rescue a little boy trapped in an old, abandoned building. Dr. Bracket leads his team in discovering the source to the food poisoning, fighting off the press and racing against time to contact the person he believes is responsible. Meanwhile, Johnny tries to solve the mystery of who the practical joker is - his practical joker! He comes up with a good plan, but...Poor Johnny!

There's just something special about these episodes. I just love how everyone is so accepted by each other and respected. The writers put just enough humor in the mix to give each episode a little more punch. Everybody has their own character, and they do a good job staying in this character. I also love the essence of the medical alertness. For instance, when the man with the injured back asks for pain, Roy wastes no time and declares, "Let me give it to you straight..." there is no need to add unbelievable drama content to this. The men are such great actors that even though Roy is talking harshly to the man, we know he is deeply sympathetic for the man's pain.

Even with the various story lines, we are able to keep up with what's going on the whole time! Emergency is something special - the best medical show ever made!!!

    • Trivia
Virginia Gregg makes her first appearance in this episode as Wilma Jacobs, RN. Correction: She was in the pilot as well.
    • Goofs
Dr. Brackett, touted for his expertise and reputation, orders the paramedics to start an IV of "DW5" for a patient at her home. The correct term is "D5W", which stands for 'Dextrose 5% in Water'. No medical professional would ever call it DW5. Even a first year student nurse knows that it is called D5W.

Paramedic Roy DeSoto: If I were you Johnny, you know what I'd do? I'd just quit before you booby trap yourself right into Rampart Emergency.
