Plot

John overtimes at Station 8 where an unavailable squad costs a heart attack victim his life. A boy falls from a tree. Chet is injured by an explosion. Doctors treat a tree surgeon. Roy is injured in a fireworks warehouse fire.

Johnny makes up time at Station 8 where a paramedic with whom he trained is the new Captain. Johnny is upset about the cardiac patient he and the Captain tried to treat, but with only an engine and without Squad 8, they had no medical equipment and the man died. Chet is hurt when a hot building explodes and Chet falls down a flight of stairs; Roy and Johnny have Chet covered. A tree surgeon injured in a fall is brought into Rampart; Kel suspects issues with broken ribs and pneumothorax. A boy falls down in his yard and cannot move his legs; further info from the mother indicates the boy complained of weakness since his camping trip. But Dixie finds the "critter" responsible for the boy's problem. Engine and Squad 51 get a call with Engines 8, 116 and 121 to handle a structure fire. Roy is the next victim of an explosion. The next Captain of County 8 makes a confession to Cap Stanley: he wants to start hoarding medical equipment, not only for squads but engines, too. He never wants to be stuck without the proper equipment to save a victim ever again.—LA-Lawyer

Johnny works overtime at Squad 8 and is reunited with his old training partner Stone, who is now Captain of Station 8. A construction worker dies from a heart attack due to the Squad being unavailable for 10 minutes. Back at Station 51, the firefighters check a water flow alarm and an explosion occurs, injuring Chet. At Rampart, Dixie calls and asks the X-Ray lab regarding Dr. Early admitting Chet, who needs evaluation. A tree surgeon is hit by a tree and suffers a collapsed lung. The Squad then assists a boy who fell from a tree due to being exposed to Rocky Mountain spotted fever from a tick, and a fire at a fireworks warehouse injures Roy.—Gary Richard Collins II (wordgiant2018@gmail.com)
