Good episode marred by a dumb scene

I love Emergency, but occasionally the viewer is asked to believe something that makes no sense. I'm thinking of the scene where the firemen try to start an ancient fire truck they got out a junk yard before even seeing if it had oil in it. Only third graders might think that would work.

Trivia
The 1973 Ward LaFrance fire engine was donated to Universal by the company as a marketing tool to show off the engine to prospective buyers who watch the show. It was not a mock up but a real working fire engine which was put into service years later by the Yosemite National Park fire department until it's retirement. It now sits in the LaCoFD museum alongside an original squad and the original Engine 51

Goofs
After Roy and John return to Rampart after dealing with the OD victim, John makes a production out of the fact his arm was cut during the incident. Yet when they arrive back at the station there is no bandage on his elbow nor is there any sign of a wound.
