"You are a gut maggot without guts"

After Mark Wahlberg's cameo in the pilot and Val Kilmer playing a stoner in Episode 5, it's time for Gary Busey to rip his own image to pieces. Wait, Busey who? some might say, and in all fairness it's hard to blame them: the poor fella is best known for playing the psychotic Mr. Joshua in the first Lethal Weapon, with few other memorable flicks on his CV.

Anyway, he doesn't show up until the second half of the episode: the first half is occupied by Drama meeting his new agent Adam Davies (Jordan Belfi) and Eric wondering whether Ari can do his job as well as he's supposed to, considering zero efforts have been made to get Queens Boulevard off the ground. After that, the gang attends an art show where Busey, portrayed as a bit of a retard, is the star until Turtle destroys one of his sculptures, then it's off to the beach party hosted by Josh Weinstein, who is revealed to be one of Ari's former assistants. Bet that doesn't sit well with Mr. Gold...

The most surprising thing about Busey and the Beach is the fact Busey accepted to appear as he is depicted in the show: usually that kind of treatment takes place in South Park or Family Guy, not alive-action series, but he seems to ignore it and has great fun mocking himself as much as he possibly can. Once again, though, the crowning moment belongs to Ari, especially when he confronts "Josh Weinf*ck, the lightweight pen-stealing f*ckface". Nice one.

    • Trivia
A direct quote from Jerry Ferrara, filmed during an interview: "Kevin Connolly is frightened of Gary Busey only because at one point when we were on the beach, he held Kevin Connolly down and started tickling him, tried to make him piss his pants. He calls it tickle-pee. Kevin's like 'I'm... I'm thirty years old, don't fucking tickle me.' Gary Busey's not a little guy. He was tickling the shit out of Connolly, trying to make him pee. It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life."
    • Goofs
During a shot of Vince, Eric and Ari towards the beginning, the white wall behind them is just a little too reflective. This causes the boom mic to be visible in the background of the shot.

Ari Gold: Does your boss know you're using his house for a party? Cause I just put a call in to him. Yeah, we went to school together. I helped cheat on his economics final or he wouldn't have graduated, so he owes me big-time.

Ari Gold: You know another class I took at Harvard? Business Ethics. I don't steal other people's motherfucking clients, but in your case I'm going to make an exception. I'm going to take everyone: your B-level sitcom stars, your reality-TV writers, when I'm done with you, you're gonna be repping sideshow freaks. You need Jo-Jo the Dog-Face-Bitch-Boy? Call Josh Weinfuck, the lightweight pen-stealing fuckface.

Ari Gold: [tastes Josh's drink, makes a face, and then pours it out disdainfully] That's awful.
