We all know how, when long-running series get long in the tooth, they produce a retrospective episode. Perhaps it's because they've run out of ideas or maybe it's just because using clips from old episodes is an inexpensive way to make a new one. Certainly one of the best written shows on TV wasn't going to stoop to that level! No doubt after 11 seasons they had an abundance of material available to them but, instead, we get this very clever send up of a trite custom. And, just in case anyone doesn't get the joke, all the flashbacks feature ridiculous wigs. It certainly wasn't for a lack of budget. The very best may be the one Kenny the station manager is wearing back in the days when he was a pizza delivery guy.
I thought this episode was a nice way to celebrate the show and remind you of key moments without doing the dreaded flashback episode to save time/money/effort in the dying days of the show. I remember 'Friends' pulled this trick in its own last series, with the flashback sequence lasting nearly as long as the new material.
This is actually one of the better episodes from the eleventh and final series, and it's a shame that they didn't do more episodes that celebrated what made the show good during this final run, rather than the seemingly endless run of bad dates for Frasier themed ones we had to go through.
Good stuff.

I thought at first this was a retrospective with actual scenes from earlier episodes, couldn't figure out why the hair was so bad! their hair never looked like that! but otherwise a funny, touching episode, with a nice cynical twist at the end.
Everybody on staff at the show must have already flown the coop to new jobs because, wow, so bad! As a fanatical fan of this marvelous series, it's actually kind of fun how they went so low. The horrible wigs had to be intentional. Like, "We're outta here! Screw it!" The plot was just so-so and really kind of all over the place, especially considering the visual conceit that probably started off as their focus. If you're a true fan, don't dismiss this episode; instead, appreciate it for the potential drinking game that it is. And have everyone vote for their favorite wig. Mine is Roz's wig mid-way through the episode. It's like she was someone else entirely. Of course, then there's Kenny's, which is truly awesome.
