    The Ring

When Daphne finds an engagement ring in Martin's underwear drawer, she tells Frasier. It is obvious he is going to ask Sherry to marry him. However, we find out that Niles has already hired a private investigator to check up on Sherry. So we have the tussle between privacy and concern for the old man. There is little spark in this one, but it shows how the relationship between father and son is developing.

    Edit
    • Trivia
The title card "Give Me a Ring Sometime" references the first episode of Cheers (1982), the series that originally developed the character of Frasier Crane.
    • Goofs
When Frasier hands Niles the videocassette, it is clearly a Blockbuster Video rental case, but (aside from the name/logo on the cover and traditional blue border on the back) it is completely devoid of any informative text that it should have.
    • Quotes

Daphne: Sherry's never exactly liked me. You don't think she'll try to make your father get rid of me, do you?

Frasier: Oh, Daphne, of course not. He'd be lost without you.

Dr. Niles Crane: Yes, and even if by some chance that were to happen, Daphne, I could always use you.

      [realizing innuendo]

Dr. Niles Crane: I, I would know of a position you could take...

      [digging into a hole]

Dr. Niles Crane: ... services that you could perform.

      [holds himself, then:]

Dr. Niles Crane: I would know of an opening...

[realizes the path he has taken and takes up the check]

Dr. Niles Crane: This is on me.

    • Crazy credits
When the title "Frasier" (in yellow letters) and the usual silhouette of Seattle are on screen, a shooting star can be briefly seen in the sky.
