The Ring

When Daphne finds an engagement ring in Martin's underwear drawer, she tells Frasier. It is obvious he is going to ask Sherry to marry him. However, we find out that Niles has already hired a private investigator to check up on Sherry. So we have the tussle between privacy and concern for the old man. There is little spark in this one, but it shows how the relationship between father and son is developing.

Trivia
The title card "Give Me a Ring Sometime" references the first episode of Cheers (1982), the series that originally developed the character of Frasier Crane.

Goofs
When Frasier hands Niles the videocassette, it is clearly a Blockbuster Video rental case, but (aside from the name/logo on the cover and traditional blue border on the back) it is completely devoid of any informative text that it should have.

Daphne: Sherry's never exactly liked me. You don't think she'll try to make your father get rid of me, do you?
