Okay, but not great, start

The first episode of sketch-comedy show Fridays, broadcast on 11 April 1980. The cast includes Larry David and Michael Richards, both later of Seinfeld fame, Melanie Chartoff, Maryedith Burrell and Mark Blankfield. Musical guest is Kenny Loggins who performs "Keep the fire".

Not the most auspicious start, though not terrible either. Billed as an alternative to Saturday Night Live, you can see the similarities between the two shows. However, Fridays seems far less polished and, well, funny. Many of the sketches are quite lame and simply fall flat.

There are some good moments though, enough to encourage you to keep watching. Also good to see early-careers Larry David and Michael Richards.
