Richard Anderson credited as playing...
Leonard Taft
- Leonard Taft: [as Lt. Gerard is about to take Kimball in] I don't envy you your job, Lieutenent.
- Lt. Gerard: Oh? It's like a paid vacation, really.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: [to Taft] The one-armed man was arrested in Los Angeles.
- Leonard Taft: I know.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: The money came from here... from Stafford.
- Leonard Taft: Now who would do a thing like that?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Someone who gave his name as Leonard Taft.
- Leonard Taft: I see... I see. You think that *I* put up the money, Richard?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I don't know... maybe you thought it was a way I could get to him.
- Leonard Taft: Now that would be a pretty foolish thing to do, wouldn't it?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Yeah. It would.
- Leonard Taft: [to Gerard] What do you say, Lieutenant?
- Lt. Philip Gerard: Whoever bailed Fred Johnson out of jail, obviously didn't want him to talk. I think you do.
- Leonard Taft: Right.
- Lt. Philip Gerard: Anyway, if you had dome something so misguided, I don't think you'd have used your name.
- Leonard Taft: All right, now here's something else for you gentlemen... this morning Donna got a call from a man who said that *I* was in the house that evening.
- Lt. Philip Gerard: Could there have been someone else at the house?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I don't know.
- Leonard Taft: Listen, we thought it was some kind of prank, some kind of crank calling.
- Lt. Philip Gerard: It could still be a prank.
- Leonard Taft: She called me at the office, and said she was going to teach him a lesson, that I *would* meet him there.
- Lt. Philip Gerard: Where?
- Leonard Taft: We thought it was a joke, I was on three other calls, and... Dick, I just don't remember.
- Lt. Philip Gerard: Well, if it *is* the one-armed man he could be there right now!
- Leonard Taft: [glancing at his watch] She'll be home any minute.
- Bobby Taft: Daddy, someone's here
- [at Richard's sister's house]
- Bobby Taft: .
- Leonard Taft: Well, who is it, son?
- Bobby Taft: I think it's Uncle Dick!
- Leonard Taft: [as Gerard is preparing to leave with Richard, as his time to prove his innocence has run out] Another week would've killed you, eh, Lieutenant?
- Lt. Philip Gerard: Mr. Taft, I happen to believe that holding on to false hope is the worst kind of cruelty.
- Leonard Taft: Why don't you call your mother about the boys?
- Donna Kimble Taft: I could do that. I've got a word or two for Billy.
- Leonard Taft: Billy? What did Billy do now?
- Donna Kimble Taft: I found this
- [a bullet]
- Donna Kimble Taft: in his sock drawer as I was fixing a room for Jean.
- Lt. Philip Gerard: [taking the bullet, which matches one found at an abandoned stablehouse, where Lloyd Chandler confronted Fred Johnson] Where did he get this?
- Donna Kimble Taft: From Lloyd Chandler. He's been teaching the boys how to fire a gun.
- Lt. Philip Gerard: Out at the stables?
- Leonard Taft: No, they're letting them use the police range.
- Lt. Philip Gerard: We found this one
- [his bullet]
- Lt. Philip Gerard: at the stables yesterday... where that caller wanted to meet you.
- Donna Kimble Taft: And, I told Lloyd about that phone call!
