Oh dear

It is awful. Galactica was notorious for using stock footage, but this episode is out of control, plus added 1980 smoke "effects" & fire. I know they were trying to save money, but this seems like 80% recycled footage. Ultimately it feels like we were re-sold an episode. And I love Galactica & still like this, but the re-used effects seem grainy & it's hard to watch. I mean, re-use effects, but when they look un-processed, it looks much worse than the original, grainy, blotchy, etc. They were obviously tasked with making a show with minimum budget, & unfortunately it shows. Ultimately it shows why the show was cancelled and could have been so much better.

First appearance by Patrick Stuart as Dr Zee, replacing Robbie Rist in the part.

Goofs
Near start of the show, During the Cylon attack on the freighter with the children on board, there is a series of explosions on board the ship obviously taken from stock footage. One of them clearly shows railway lines and a steam train center screen. Furthermore, all this footage was shot with anamorphic lenses and not properly desqueezed for the series' 1.35:1 aspect ratio.

Crazy credits
The three parts of "Galactica Discovers Earth" which opened this series showed the title "Galactica 1980", but starting with "The Super Scouts", all subsequent episodes reverted to the older "Battlestar Galactica in the opening sequence.
