    • Trivia
Telly Savalas (Wheeler) played Archer J. Maggot in The Dirty Dozen (1967), a film with many similarities to this series (e.g., convicts recruited for a dangerous mission). Savalas went on to play a similar role as Big Joe in Kelly's Heroes (1970), a movie about money-crazy soldiers in WWII.
    • Alternate versions
There was an alternate version made of the pilot episode (The Big Con). As Garrison's Gorillas was originally intended as a replacement for Combat, the Gorillas meet up with Lt. Hanley and the Combat guys at the beginning of the episode. When it was decided not to cancel Combat, the beginning was re-shot with an anonymous group of soldiers. Almost the same as the original version, but there are some slight differences.
