    This episode isnt on prime

Ive been watching this show from the start and for some reason this episode isn't there. If I go to another source then a different episode is missing. Not sure if Prime is racist or what as this episode is about Dorothy's son engages to an older black lady and has amazing actress in it.

This show was way ahead of its time.

Michael arrives with startling news, he's marrying Greta Wagner, a woman almost twice his age, a woman who happens to be black.

I think it would be very easy for people to deem this episode as racist, and whilst there are some comments that are outdated, the essence of the episode is white something.

I think the slant they went for, that prejudice can exist anywhere, and in any form. This show was truly ahead of its time. I still think that for many, age gaps are still frowned upon by many.

Plenty of funny moments, the scene with the face mask and mirror was hilarious, I had to rewind that back a few times, Rose's trip down Memory Lane, and of course Blanche's antics.

Schnaumatians, I love the idea of those.

    9/10.

    • Trivia
When Sophia comes home to find The Girls, Dorothy's son Michael and his new fiancée Lorraine, who is black, along with her mother and two aunts - not to mention Blanche and Rose, whose mud-packed faces look for all the world like Al Jolson blackface - she quips, "What is this, a revival of 'Raisin in the Sun'? Besides being funny per se, it is also likely an "inside" compliment to Virginia Capers, the actress who plays Lorraine's mother, as she won the 1974 Tony award as Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her performance in 'Raisin', the musical based on 'A Raisin in the Sun'. Also, the first name of Michael's fiancée - Lorraine - could well be a "nod" to the author of 'A Raisin in the Sun', Lorraine Hansberry.
    • Goofs
Michael's age is given as 23. In the earlier episode Family Affair (1986), his age was given as 29.
