The Nude

"The Nude" opens with JJ excited about painting his first portrait, of the new tenant that lives upstairs as a gift for her husband's birthday. Thelma knows about the attractive Charlene Brooks (Betty Bridges): "that lady doesn't wear strapless dresses, she wears dressless straps!" The price is right for a fee of $50, but the news that she desires to pose nude stuns JJ's parents. James knows how tough it is to make that kind of money on the street, and calls out his wife on her hypocrisy: "how come I'm always head of the house when you want to say no, but you the head of the house when you want to say yes!" Mrs. Brooks certainly earns her nickname 'The Wiggler,' her one piece bathing suit poses making the artist blush, her jealous husband Calvin (Carl Weathers) naturally getting the wrong impression. Carl Weathers was only a year away from his best known role as Apollo Creed in "Rocky."
