Not as good as the book

It wasn't nearly as good as the book but still decent and a lot of the effects still hold up.

    That twist was a shocker

While you definitely get the vibe that something isn't right, the twist was unexpected. Great effects and a sinister ending.

Good but a lot was taken away from the book

This episode was relatively good for its somewhat low budget. My biggest problem is how much it took away from the book, it would have been better if it was a 40-minute special. The design of Shock Street was actually okay, even though they didn't do much world-building. The twist ending also got a massive upgrade because in the book it was kinda out of nowhere but in the episode you had some subtle hints. Sadly the funny giant praying mantis wasn't in this episode, but some of the other monsters/ghouls were. So altogether the episode was good enough and also a fairly decent adaptation to the book.

    • Trivia
The book had a number of scenes that weren't in the episode:

. Erin and Marty seeing the latest Shock Street movie at the beginning.

. Before Erin and Marty get on the tram, a woman gives them the laser guns.

. The tram ride was much longer and was very much like a roller coaster.

. A scene where Erin and Marty come across a group of giant mantises.

. A scene where Erin and Marty go to a graveyard and come across a group of zombies.

. A scene where the two run away from werewolves.

. Followed by them getting back on the tram only to find out that it has skeleton passengers.

. The two meeting a Shock Street movie director at the end.
    • Goofs
Strings are visible on the bats which attack Marty and Erin.

      [last lines]

Mr. Wright: [working on Erin and Marty robot replicas] I hope I made you more durable... than the originals.

Erin Wright: [the originals wake up, pokes and scares her father, robotic tone] I'd say you made us plenty durable.

Marty: [robotic tone] Durable enough for revenge, anyway.

Erin Wright: And you thought you could just discard us.

Mr. Wright: [takes his remote control to try and shut them off] But - but I deactivated you!

Erin Wright: [scoffs] So you thought.

Marty: I guess there are some things you don't know about us, aren't there?

Erin Wright: We don't want to be deactivated. Do we, Marty?

Marty: No, we don't like that. We don't like that at all.

Erin Wright: Everything wants to live.

      Marty: Even robots.

Mr. Wright: [as the two robots gang up on him, scared] No! NO!
