    Too much, too soon

An expert surfer and his budding filmmaker brother have the fortune/misfortune to be filming on the same beach where a hit man is meeting a man a crime boss thinks may roll over on him. He steals the victim's wallet. Unfortunately, he drops a can of film which the bad guys find and develop, leading them to the brothers.

Unfortunately, 5-0 is a bit slower following the trail of stolen credit card use, not getting a real clue until the filmmaker brother tries to use it one last time for a better zoom lens.

The crooks think the brothers may be witnesses and decide to eliminate them. McGarrett, with the real hit man in custody, becomes confused by the credit card use.

And so the episode winds up with one of the more tragic and violent endings in the series ...

    A Bob Basso episode

He was one of the most recognizable locals who appeared on Hawaii Five-O from time to time. The Banzai Pipeline is pretty average so far as episodes go for the series.

    • Trivia
The Banzai Pipeline is a surf reef break located off Ehukai Beach Park in Pupukea on Oahu's North Shore. A reef break is an area where waves start to break as they reach the shallows of a reef. Pipeline is known for huge waves that break in shallow water just above a sharp and cavernous reef forming large, hollow, thick curls of water that surfers can tube ride. The name combines the names of the surf break (Pipeline) with the beach fronting it (Banzai Beach). Surfing documentary producer Bruce Brown visited this then-unnamed site to film in 1961. At the time, there was a construction project on an underground pipeline on the adjacent Kamehameha Highway, and someone with Brown made the suggestion to name the break "Pipeline".
    • Goofs
In discussing the murder, McGarrett says: "if they wanted to make it look like a killing, they would have taken his watch and ring", when he should have said:"if they wanted to make it look like a robbery...."
    • Quotes

Det. Steve McGarrett: [after rescuing one mobster from a burning car and seeing the other one is dead] Maybe he was the lucky one... his troubles are over. Book 'im, Danno, murder one, two counts.
