    THE CLOCK IS TICKING...

Wild episodes like this is what made HAWAIIN EYE. This is great. The story may have also been an inspiration to HAWAII FIVE O, which dealt with very similar cases -- only in color!

All about an escaped mental patient who both Tom and Tracy have to track down, obviously the sooner the better. There is a catch. The doctor in charge (well played by Edward Platt) claims the man, a scarred war vet, is suffering from amnesia and believes he's still serving in the army and ready to shoot to kill!

Excellent direction by Howard W. Koch, a master of films and tv for decades. Koch was one of the most admired directors in Hollywood. Written by Steven Ritch, also an actor and best known for the starring role in the cult film, THE WEREWOLF a few years earlier. Ritch put together an incredible script. Hang tight. Always fun to watch Tom and Tracy hard at work, and they earn the bucks here.

Guest star is Dell Finn Poaha, playing Frieda, Dell was born in Honolulu, popular on tv at the time. Dramatic actor Yuki Shimota plays Mitsuki. Yuki was everywhere on tv, later in recurring roles on KUNG FU and MASH.

Look for Lee Patrick, playing Pearl, always a treat in both dramatic and comedy roles. Lee was best known on tv, co-starring in TOPPER.

Very best of SEASON 2 EPISODE 3. Remastered dvd box set. Check with local dealers as some episodes are sold separately or the entire series is available on dvd. Thanks to METV Plus for running this classic show along with 77 SUNSET STRIP on Sunday nights.

    • Trivia
Early in the episode, when Tracy is walking past a record store on the way to his office, in the store window there is a display of the 1959 soundtrack album for the companion series 77 Sunset Strip.
    • Goofs
Although Mitsuki still thinks it's 1941, he doesn't seem the least bit fazed by how different things look, such as automobiles and phones. (This is what "Dark Shadows" fans call the "Barnabas Collins Problem.")
