    Gold Crown

Reed got on my nerves telling a grown man what to do with his money. I think Reed was a little jealous. And that Mexican food he ate looked good.

This was a good episode. Very humorous.

(*Sergeant MacDonald quote*) - "Well, any marriage proposals yet?"

Pete Malloy wins $10,000 in a "name-that-product" contest.

Jim Reed tries to convince him to spend the money wisely.

Anyway - Besides dealing with a noise complaint, Officers Reed and Malloy get an assist from Air-10 regarding a sniper who's shooting it out from on top of a multi-leveled parkade.

Extraordinary cast makes this one of the best episodes of the series

Don Barry was an excellent and, in my opinion, terribly under-rated actor. In his one directorial effort, of a movie with a budget of what looked to be about $57.00, he showed skill and inventiveness. He deserved more fame and respect.

In this episode, he has a brief scene, so different from the kind of strong characters he is best known for, and he steals the scene.

Also enriching the cast and the show is Regis Toomey, one of the busiest and most talented of character actors.

Irene Tuttle is another of those invaluable character actors without whom Hollywood could not have existed.

This episode had more humor than usual, but this show was not all funny. Malloy and Reed are also fired at by a deranged sniper.

Writers for "Adam 12" had an amazing and admirable ability to present many and different stories in just 30 minutes ... including commercials (made so much worse in the syndicated editions on the nostalgia TV channels). This episode is one of the best.

    Great acting by Don Barry

Don Barry played the part of the wino as well as it could ever be played. He was absolutely excellent in his role. It was a small part, yes, but played to the hilt.

Adam-12 had many great character actors over their 8 year run, and some were really well played, and other weren't, but Don Barry was so genuine as a drunkard, living on the streets of Los Angeles.

Marin Milner and Kent McCord were always great as the cops we get to go on patrol with. Always loved this show, and nothing like it on t.v. These days. It was 'made for t.v' and not always as realistic as it must have been for many police officers back in the day, but still top notch entertainment.

Officer Jim Reed: [incredulously about Pete's contest winnings] You're going to blow the whole wad on a boat?

Officer Pete Malloy: [facetiously] Well it's my allowance, Mother. I can spend it on whatever I want.
