Walter Richmond
- Laura Gild: You like a drink?
- Walter Richmond: Well, I don't want to trouble you.
- Laura Gild: I'll tell you when it's trouble. Okay?
- Walter Richmond: Okay.
- Laura Gild: Does your work bring you down to La Jolla very often, Mr Richmond.
- Walter Richmond: It's beginning to look like that, Mrs Gild.
- Walter Richmond: Hi, Boss.
- Regis: Hi, I thought you'd be in La Jolla by now.
- Walter Richmond: You know I wouldn't leave without saying goodbye.
- Regis: I get all choked up insde.
- Laura Gild: I can tell a lot about a person, just looking.
- Walter Richmond: Like what?
- Laura Gild: Well, not everything of course, but a lot. Take the way you dress, the way you cut your hair. I can tell you're particular. You like nice things.
- Walter Richmond: I like nice things.
- Laura Gild: The way you move, the way you carry yourself as if you're sure. You know, it's something more than that. You some kind of athlete?
- Walter Richmond: I play a lot of tennis.
- Laura Gild: See, I can tell a lot, just looking.
- Walter Richmond: But not everything.
- Laura Gild: Well, who can tell everything?
- Walter Richmond: You play a better game than I thought.
- Laura Gild: Well, I can play other games besides tennis.
- Walter Richmond: Tennis is for kids.
- Laura Gild: This kid is thirsty.
- Walter Richmond: Always come to me with small problems I can solve.
- Laura Gild: Looks like I'm in the driver's seat, doesn't it, Walter?
- Walter Richmond: I haven't been giving you enough credit, dear.
- Laura Gild: No, but you'll learn to, darling.
- Walter Richmond: Do you trust me, darling?
- Laura Gild: Not for a moment.
- Walter Richmond: How'd you know I was here?
- Laura Gild: I had you followed all weekend. Will you give me the keys, or do I have to call on my husband?
- Walter Richmond: Boss, maybe he's got a daughter.
- Regis: Okay, maybe he's got a daughter.
- [He reaches into his wallet for a wad of notes]
- Walter Richmond: Happy weekend.
- Walter Richmond: Nice view. Must have cost a lot of money.
- Laura Gild: Herbert's view. Five year lease paid in advance. La Jolla, it's what I wanted, it's what I got.
- Walter Richmond: Who doesn't want La Jolla?
- Laura Gild: From the wrong side of the San Diego naval yard, it looks like paradise. Five miles down the road. How do you get there?
- Walter Richmond: Herbert?
- Laura Gild: He was nice, he was sweet. I liked him.
- Walter Richmond: And his money?
- Laura Gild: His money, I could have loved. Enough of it. It was a fair fight. We both got cheated a little.
