    • Trivia
This episode and "The Reformation of Harry Briscoe," which aired in the second season, were combined into a TV-Movie called "Alias Smith and Jones: The Gun and the Nun," which aired on CBS Late Night and may be available in syndication. New footage features Harry Briscoe narrating the two stories to his young son about a decade into the future.
    • Goofs
After Smith and Jones leave the washroom with the train tickets, the train boarding scene is set in daylight even though the train has been seen before and after, in night time darkness. Oddly even in the daylight, the train conductor raises and lowers an unlit lantern to signal the engineer to start moving the train.

[Heyes and Curry are guarding a chest full of gold on a moving train]

Hannibal Heyes: [Picking the lock] You know Wheat and the boys are gonna hear about this.

      Jed 'Kid' Curry: Yeah.

Hannibal Heyes: And you know that knot head'll come out of Devils Hole and make a try for it.

      Jed 'Kid' Curry: Yeah.

Hannibal Heyes: [Opens up the lid] Oh, Oh, it's gold.

      Jed 'Kid' Curry: Yeah.

      Hannibal Heyes: It's, it's gold.

Jed 'Kid' Curry: Aw Heyes, put it away.
