Over The Top But Fun

I would say that this is the most over the top episode in the whole series. There is a lot going on here. You could break this episode up into 3 different episodes without any problem because of the multiple story lines.

You have a Japanese ace calling out Boyington. You have Boyington calling out his mechanic. You have the mechanic in turn calling out Boyington. You have an efficiency expert from Washington DC. You have a news reel being produced. You have the mixture of fear and excitement inherent in aerial combat. Throw in some cute sexy nurses looking for fun. Just a whole lot to think about.

But there's no doubt that this episode is highly entertaining. It's probably my favorite episode of the series. Certainly in the top 2 or 3.

Trivia
Eleanor Roosevelt toured the Pacific as shown during WW2 in August and September 1943.

Goofs
When Jerry is coming in for a landing after being shot and injured you can see a large tower in the background. The tower is a ride at Magic Mountain amusement park in Valencia.
