I will say, this is one of the most difficult to watch episodes in a series that is already full of things that are difficult to watch.
I personally have a problem with sadistic and brutal rape and torture of women. In this episode it is clear that at least one woman has been subjected to that. It doesn't matter that the assumption is that she is "a machine". I presume the obvious idea is that we compare the treatment of Cylons in this fiction to that of any of a number of minorities in real life. If that's how are supposed to see it, then that makes it all the more disturbing.
This program has show humankind in a bad light since the first episode. Torture, beatings, and murder are the failings of humanity which justifies similar behavior by Cylon humanoids especially 6 and Leobon (to date). This episode is the crowning example of this and as I said it is difficult to watch.
Cheap, cliche tactic used on TV and in movies to ramp up drama and toy with our emotions. Literally does nothing to further the plot or story, adds nothing to the quality of the show. Lazy.

- TriviaAt 8:14 when Cain shakes Adama's hand, she turns her hand counterclockwise to put her hand over his. In body language terms, this is a dominance display. Cain does not do this when shaking Roslin's hand, however.
- GoofsAfter the Battlestar Pegasus is identified and Commander Adama speaks with Admiral Caine, he orders the alert to be stepped down to "condition one". One might think that he would order "condition three", which is the lowest alert level. There is no reason why he should do this. As far as he knows, the cylons might have taken over the Pegasus. By keeping things on full alert, Adama is allowing for that possibility.
- Quotes
Lieutenant Alastair Thorne: [Dr. Baltar has been asked aboard the Battlestar Pegasus to examine their "Cylon prisoner"] Don't get too close. It killed seven of my crew. Do you want my guards to come in with you?
Number Six: Feeling scared, Gaius? Want the big, bad soldiers to protect you from the mean old Cylon prisoner?
Doctor Gaius Baltar: No, I think we'll be just fine. Thank you.
[the Cylon Prisoner is shackled to the floor]
Number Six: Oh, my God.
[the Cylon comes into full view]
Number Six: My God, Gaius, it's me! Look at what they've done to her!
Doctor Gaius Baltar: Open the door, now, please.
Computer Voice: ID confirmed. Lieutenant Thorne.
[the door opens and Baltar instantly covers his face with a handkerchief]
Doctor Gaius Baltar: [Baltar examines the other Number Six: she is in a catatonic state] She must have struggled. She must have fought back.
Number Six: [crying] That doesn't justify this!
- Alternate versionsIn the extended version, most of the additional material involves lengthening scenes without changing their content (i.e. tacking extra material onto the beginning or end). The glaring exception is the assault on Sharon Valerii. In the original, aired version, events are sequenced and framed in such a way to make it clear that Helo and Tyrol *prevented* the rape completely. In the extended version, the rape is graphically in progress when they charge into the cell and stop it.
