Worst to Date

Certainly the worst episode we've seen in watching these first five seasons. There is no entertainment value in this at all. Very limited cast. Police work more ancient then usual. I mean, how could you attempt a rescue with no weapon at all. Even though we look past the police protocol most episodes given its the 1980s.

When Deborah begins receiving threatening phone calls, Bergerac suspects that the culprit may be a man he sent to jail for arson.

Root and Branch is an entertaining episode. It's nice to see Deborah, Charlie and Kim get more to do than usual. 3/5

Trivia
The quotation about an eye for an eye comes from Exodus, chapter 21 verse 24.

Goofs
When Debbie receives a phone call about Jim and rushes off in her Mercedes, it has old-style silver-on-black number-plates on the front and back as she is leaving Charlie's house, but a few seconds later, and in all subsequent shots, they are new-style black-on-white number-plates. Also, in a point-of-view shot from the driving seat, the car is moving as it turns into a driveway, but the speedometer reads zero.
