If you love the show normally, you won't like this...

... or at least, we REALLY didn't, and we're huge fans of the show (found it via John Nettles via *Midsomer Murders* in 2025!). The plots, characters, and acting are all some of our favorite.

This episode, however, is a huge disappointment, from the hokey, Americanized chase (car and boat) scenes with goofy music, to the gratuitous yoga-to-music scene (a la *Flashdance*) starring one of the villains, to the over-the-top violence of the psychopath(s), to Charlie (who had been seeming less venal lately) reverting to his crummiest values and inane behavior (but not to save Jim), to-on a petty note-Jim ditching his casual clothes for suits that the character would ordinarily mock...

Just no. I wish we'd skipped this not-very-special and just started the next season. Sorry, I meant series!

    Edit
    • Goofs
After Mason pushes Grob into the pool chained to the bench, you can briefly see the stuntman swimming away underwater.
    • Quotes

Harry Tilson: [pushing a man off his speedboat] Eat salt, sucker.

    • Alternate versions
A version showed by the channel UKTV cut around 10 minutes from the running time, including a scene where Bergerac has dinner with Elizabeth Dufresne. This made the final scene immediately before the credits somewhat perplexing.
