GLADYS FLATT, THE NEXT SUPER STAR.

I agree with the last reviewer, a nice showcase for actress and model Joi Lansing, who Hollywood lost too soon. She made several film and tv appearances though, foremost on this show, a total of six times, playing composer Lester Flatt's new wife, Gladys.

She, Lester and fellow musican Earl Scruggs return to Beverly Hills to unite with old pal Jed, and this time Gladys has a chance to be a movie star -- auditioning at Jed's studio -- with director Jethro? You know this is gonna' be a hoot, and catch his way wild Hollywood threads.

Flatt and Scruggs wrote the series theme song, one of the most beloved country music teams of all time. Their banjo pickin' is a class act.

An episode that's just plain fun to watch. Flatt and Scruggs next hit would be the "Theme from Bonnie and Clyde," also known as Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

To answer the goof notes; Elly says she was swimming, yet her hair is dry and set. That may be due to stylist Frances Sperry, long with the series, who wanted to show off Elly's hair. Definitely. What hair stylist wants her model all wet? No arguement there.

SEASON 5 EPISODE 28 remastered color on dvd. Seasons 6 through 9 will be released on blu ray in 2027. Thanks much to METV for running every single episode.

    • Goofs
When Gladys enters the kitchen in her bathing suit, she tells them she had just been swimming. But her hair is perfectly set, as if she had just come from the beautician, showing she couldn't have been swimming.
    • Quotes

Lester Flatt: Well aren't you comin' in, Darling?

Gladys Flatt: No, Lester. Miss Hathaway's going to drive me right to the studio for wardrobe fitting.

Earl Scruggs: You're both gonna miss Granny's vittles.

      Gladys Flatt, Jane Hathaway: Yeah.
