Per the title, the phrase 'Dog Days' refers to the hottest, most sultry days of summer that usually fall between early July and early September.

Goofs
When granny has the tray of food and is calling for somebody, the scene cuts to outside with Jethro, Elle May, and her dogs sitting in their car. Watch as the dogs run into the house. In the lower part of the screen are the hands of the trainer clapping to get the dogs to run into the house.
