Hillbilly Fact; Kharma kind of came back to Mr. Drysdale in bizarro ways over the years.
Remember Granny cutting his hair? NOT much LEFT. Only the beginning...
Now surgery? Mr. D has an accident -- kharma strikes again -- and since his head HURTS, Doc Granny suggests a head transplant? As in a fresh head?? The question remains; were writers Paul Henning and Buddy Atkinson taking notes from DARK SHADOWS at the time? Vampire Barnabas Collins was conducting experiments in his secret laboratory, which brought in lots of viewers.
Whatever the case, this story ranks as the MOST camp ever. And is Granny's tonic legal medicine? Mr. Drysdale becomes a smiling zombie.
The other part of the episode deals with Mr. D wanting to film a banking commercial -- with bragging rights. Against his wife's wishes, he brings the famous cabin back to Beverly Hills ( he had done this before) to show how multi millionaire Jed used to live. Actually, a fairly good idea.
Hillbilly Notes; Much credit for the old cabin is due to set designer Armor E. Goetten, who also worked on PETTICOAT JUNCTION and MISTER ED. A master with a hammer and a saw.
Best Costume Award: Mr. Drysdale's Green Superman-like threads, called Super Banker. Wild stuff with a gigantic dollar sign on the front.
Best one liners Award: The angry exchanges between Granny and Mrs. D. Love it. Also catch Judy the Chimp milking a cow?
See this one and laugh out loud. Thank you Irene Ryan for being Granny. SEASON 6 EPISODE 29 remastered CBS dvd box set. Seasons 6 through 9 are expeceted to be on blu ray by 2027.
