    The Little Warlock

Samantha agrees to take care of Merle, a young warlock while his parents are away.

One of Season 2's best. Funny scenes of Merle using witchcraft in front of Mrs. Kravitz and later Darrin. Funniest one is when he zaps up a toy fire engine which he uses to catch a burglar. Merle is well played by Craig Hundley who would later have a role on "The Brady Bunch" as a teen who gets Greg in trouble with a pack of cigarettes. James Doohan (Scotty on "Star Trek". Here without the Scottish accent) plays Merle's father.

    • Trivia
The role of Merle's father (Walter Brocken) was played by James Doohan, who is best known for his role as Scotty on Star Trek (1966), starting the following year. Craig Huxley, who played Merle, guest starred in two episodes of Star Trek (1966) - Operation -- Annihilate! (1967) & And the Children Shall Lead (1968).
    • Goofs
According to the witchcraft rules in the series, the only witch or warlock who casts a spell can undo it. Merle, a young warlock, cast a spell on meatloaf changing to a piece of cake and Samantha undid the spell changing back to meatloaf.

Actually, in earlier episodes of the series, Samantha clearly indicates that she can reverse another witch's spell, if she knows what spell was used.

      [first lines]

Gladys Kravitz: [Gladys and Abner observe the Stephens house] Hey, Abner. Abner, come here quick. How about that? Kind of funny, people like that going into the Stephens' house.

Abner Kravitz: They look normal to me.

Gladys Kravitz: That's what's funny about it.
