    Esmerelda's Beautiful Reflection

Esmerelda is more nervous than usual since she will be meeting old beau Ferdy again.

A lot of laughs in this episode. Samantha helps Esmerelda's confidence by making her mirror reflection beautiful. Tom Bosley plays Ferdy and he has funny moments since his powers are just as shot as Esmerelda's. He tries to cover it up with help from his warlock nephew. One of the funniest scenes is when Ferdy wants a scotch on the rocks and Esmerelda zaps up a Scotsman on a big rock. Another interesting thing is David Mooney plays a golf attendant, he would later play the title role in the cult classic "The Baby".

    Magic Mirror

What separates this from the similar episode in season two, "Aunt Clara's Old Flame" is the new story line of beautifying Esmerelda. Aunt Clara's (Marion Lorne) old boyfriend, Hedley Partridge (Charlie Ruggles) was coming to visit and she wanted to hide her dilapidating powers, not knowing he had the same problem.

Esmerelda isn't Aunt Clara, but she has some endearing qualities of her own. It was a bit excessive for her to believe she could be the beautiful reflection in the mirror.

It was nice to see Tom Bosley again. However, I think both Esmerelda and Ferdy were too young to have that problem.

The actress portraying Esmerelda's "pretty" image in the mirrors, is Nancy Priddy, the mother of Christina Applegate, who is known for Married... with Children (1987), Bad Moms (2016), and other productions.
    • Goofs
Esmeralda calls the sea lions that appeared in the living room "seals". Seals are a horizontal animal. The ones that are propped up on circus stands are sea lions. A common mistake.
