    Arsonist on the frontier

There's a firebug operating in Virginia City and the case has Sheriff rau Teal and Deputy Bing Russell stumped. And a lot of outraged citizens calling for their removal.

Couldn't come at a worse time for Russell as he's contemplating matrimony with Angel Tompkins who arrived in town a few months earlier. Still the public is outraged.

Cartwright regulars take a back seat to Teal and Russell and the guest cast. Sadly no suspense in this as we know almost from the beginning who the disturbed arsonist is.

    Still a well acted story.

    • Trivia
First episode to be filmed at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, Calif., after 11 years of being filmed on the Paramount lot. Both the Virginia City and Ponderosa sets were noticeably different from their long-familiar Paramount versions.
    • Goofs
During the last fire scene, Ben picks up a barrel to smash the glass in the store-front window so the people can throw water on the flames in the building. The barrel met no resistance when passing through the window frame and pieces of the framing that are supposed to hold the small panes of glass just push away; revealing that there is no glass in the frame, not even break-away glass.
