    The Lost Wallet

The boys find a wallet containing $1,100 and want to keep it but Mike insists that they try to find the owner.

A pretty good episode, the boys and the girls are still feuding with each other. The boys think they should get all the money but the girls think they should share in it also. Character actor Victor Killian has a guest role, he appeared in classic films like "This Gun For Hire" and was getting a lot of TV work in the 1970s such as Uncle Bertram in "The Jeffersons".

    THE $1100 DOLLAR JACKPOT!

This was the only episode written by Gwen Bagni, a top cop show writer, behind shows like MOD SQUAD. Gwen was probably asked to write a "light" script for the show, since both series were filmed at Paramount, and it's a classic all us kids remember.

The guys are playing in a vacant lot and Bobby happens to find a wallet containing $1100 dollars in cash! Immediately comes the question -- what to do about it? Naturally, Mike says they have to turn it over to the police department, HOWEVER, shoud no one claim it, the money is all theirs. But wait! Marcia, Jan and Cindy demand equal time and believe the money should be shared. You know something like this would happen, and again it's the guys versus the girls.

Reminiscent of a LEAVE IT TO BEAVER episode where Beave finds some lost money, only the lady that lost it is a real spoiler. The money here belongs to a retired man (played by veteran actor Victor Kilian), who dropped the wallet while changing a tire. Watch how this all plays out, both sides win, which is the point of the story.

Note; the 1100 dollars would be worth close to 9000 dollars today. No kidding. That's a lot of mazuma to be carrying around in the first place. This guy was really, REALLY lucky.

A super episode, no other way to put it. It was an honor to have Victor Kilian on the show, a veteran of many classic movies, later known as the "Flasher" on MARY HARTMAN. That's the guy.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 7 remastered color Paramount dvd box set. 4 dvds. Released 2014. Classic box cover for collectors.

    • Trivia
Sierra Avenue is the name of the street where the wallet was found. The Bradys' address is on Clinton Way.
    • Goofs
As phone calls about the wallet come in, Carol is trying to put trays of water in the freezer, which has an ice maker in the door.

Correction: That doesn't make this a goof. An ice maker has a slim chance of keeping up with 9 people. They also broke down a lot in the '70s.
