    THE BIG KISS-OFF?

LOVE, AMERICAN STYLE comes to Bobby, and kind of a neat surprise. You'd think it would be either Greg or Peter.

Short and sweet; Bobby protects classmate Millicent (Melissa Sue Anderson) from a bully and gets kissed. FIREWORKS, a la Love, American style! Add a pinch of Romeo and Juliet in a goofy dream sequence, kind of like when Marcia fell for the dentist, remember?

Short and NOT so sweet; After that moment in Brady history, Bobby kisses Millicent back -- and may have just caught the mumps??? What a bummer. The trials and tribulations of Bobby.

PART II... Switching gears, the second half of the episode finds everyone jumpin' into costumes and appearing in a Roaring 20s show of shows. A gotsta see. Applause for the wardrobe folks who did an excellent job. Best Dressed Award goes to Alice as a flapper, and silver is her color. Mike plays a college kid with a ukulele, shades of I LOVE LUCY or CAROL BURNETT.

Al Schwartz wrote this, writer for JACKIE GLEASON and RED SKELTON. I'll bet he get got the idea from all the old movies on tv at the time. NO cable in those days, so all us kids watched a lot of vintage films back in the day, sound and silent. Don't forget the pizza.

FYI; not too long after this episode, Melissa Sue Anderson won the role of Mary Ingalls on LITTLE HOUSE.

Lots of memories. SEASON 5 EPISODE 4 remastered color Paramount dvd box set. Final season collectors edition.

    Bobby's First Kiss

Bobby is kissed by Millicent after he defends her from a bully.

Not one of the better episodes. Millicent is played by cute Melissa Sue Anderson, she later played Mary on "Little House On The Prairie". Bobby sees skyrockets after the kiss. There is a cringing fantasy moment of Bobby and Millicent running into each other arms with the "Romeo And Juliet" theme playing. Bobby later finds out she may have the mumps. A subplot has the family participating in Roaring 20s show.
