    GREAT BRADY UFO CAPER.

Peter Baldwin directed this cool episode, a total of seven for the series. One of the great tv directors; CHICO AND THE MAN, BOB NEWHART, TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT, many others.

Brady Theme; Aliens for another planet?

Robert Reed, who quit the show a few episodes later, claimed he didn't like the stories. They really weren't that bad, and from a teen's point of view back in the day, lots of fun. We all remember talking with our science teachers about the possibility of aliens. Those were the best classes.

Pete and Bobby see some strange stuff in the back yard one night, and after watching a tv interview all about UFO's. Slightly creepy fun, and Chris Knight and Mike Lookinland play their roles well. Frightmare time on a Friday night.

Veteran actor James Flavin, in one of his last roles, plays the miltary brass who stops by the Brady homestead to set matters straight. He's got a goofy scene with Alice, who can't take her eyes off the him.

Look for dwarf actor Frank Delfino and his wife as the aliens. Frank was a "stand in" for Mike Lookinland. He gained fame in the 70s playing the McDonald's Hamburgler in tv commercials and was in dozens of classic movies.

FYI; Production notes indicate Barry Williams has a bandage on his lip due to a minor car accident, though I always thought he had a cold sore. You be the judge. Makeup can only hide so much.

10 STARS for all us UFO buffs.

SEASON 5 EPISODE 16 remastered color ABC/Paramount dvd box set. The entire series is on dvd with a 70s purple cover box or green shag rug. A must have.

    The UFO Story

Peter and Bobby see a UFO in the backyard.

Another lesser Season 5 episode, a rehash of the much better Season 4 episode "Fright Night". It turns out it was just Greg fooling his brothers with a fake flying saucer. Bobby has a dream sequence where he meets some aliens from outer space, they played by little people Frank and Sadie Delfino, they both also appeared on a funny Odd Couple episode called "The Odd Father". A real life NASA astronaut Jim McDivitt appears, he says he saw a UFO on one of his Apollo mission. Classic film character actor James Flavin shows up as a skeptical Air Force captain.

    • Trivia
Barry Williams has a small bandage on his lower lip in this episode and has difficulty saying some words. Greg explains the bandage as he "cut himself shaving," but in reality, Williams had been involved in a minor accident in his Porsche 356C the weekend prior to the episode being filmed and cut his lip when his jaw hit the steering wheel.
    • Goofs
The "UFO" in the photographs Peter and Bobby take look nothing like the one they see in the sky in the backyard.
    • Quotes

Capt. McCartney: [looking at pictures of the alleged UFO] This could be anything. Weather balloon, reflection, swamp gas.

Bobby Brady: We don't have a swamp in our backyard.
