    Werewolves of Sunnydale!

Fun episode. I love Willow-Oz, and their exchanges are really sweet. Buffy vs. The werewolf hunter is fun stuff too. All of the threads of the characters continue to evolve in a satisfying way.

    New Monster in the Mix!

Adding complexity to the Buffy story, a classic monster becomes known to the weekly cast. Also keeping in line with movie werewolf lore, the writing included my favourite part: the conflict of a human-werewolf hybrid, whereas the human side is fighting the animal nature he abhors. Toss in the werewolf hunter, and off we go. Vampires are not forgotten, however, as the newbie is played as a scapegoat... or... scapewolf.

Praise aside, I don't think the animatronics and full werewolf outfit were successful because the human side tends to get lost. Prosthetics would've been a better choice as one of the greatest surprises is the look on the victim's face when s/he realized who the werewolf is in beastial form.

    • Trivia
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) was one of the first TV series to cause quite a stir on the Internet with numerous fan sites and message boards springing up. This is acknowledged when Buffy stops in front of a noticeboard. There's a small note on the board thanking all of the Buffy fans at the official website.
    • Goofs
Kane uses a Bunsen burner with the collar closed (cooler, yellow flame) to melt the silver for his bullets. Even allowing for cinematic time compression (so that we imagine more time passes than we actually see between him putting the crucible in the flame and pouring out the molten silver), raising that much silver to its melting point of 962C with a small burner fueled by camping gas would have taken far too long for him to have sat there patiently holding the little crucible on a stick that he uses, especially when we see just how many bullets he appears to have made in this session (they're all set out on the work bench).

Oz: It's not everyday you find out that you're a werewolf. That's fairly freaksome. It may take a couple of days of getting used to.

Willow Rosenberg: Yeah. It's a complication.

Oz: So... Maybe it'd be best if I just... sorta...

      Willow Rosenberg: What?

Oz: Well, you know, like... stayed out of your way for a while.

Willow Rosenberg: I don't know. I'm kind of okay with you being *in* my life.

      Oz: You mean... you'd still...?

Willow Rosenberg: Well... I like you. You're nice and you're funny. And you don't smoke. Yeah, okay, werewolf, that's not all the time. I mean three days out of the month, I'm not much fun to be around either.

Oz: You are quite a human.

Willow Rosenberg: So... I'd still... if you'd still.

Oz: I'd still. I'd very still.

Willow Rosenberg: Okay... No biting, though.
