There Is Always a Reason for Everything

The DVD of the Fourth Season was released with both episodes ("Charmed Again – Parts 1 & 2") together. The beginning has an ellipsis and is absolutely non-sense and shows an absolutely lack of respect of the producers with the viewers: Prue is dead and Phoebe and Cole are back from the underworld without any explanation. Later it is disclosed that Shax killed Prue and Dr. Griffiths after the reversion of time. But there are no explanations regarding the return of Phoebe and Cole. If we disregard this absolute lack of coherence in the plot, these two episodes are great.

Piper, Phoebe and Leo are grieving the death of Prue with Victor Bennett, Cole and friends, when Darryl arrives with the arrogant Inspector Cortez, who is in charge of the investigation of the two mysterious murders. Meanwhile, the assistant of the South Bay Social Services Paige Matthews is attracted by the obituary and goes to the funeral. Later she discloses that she is half-sister of Piper and Phoebe. The Source is informed by the Oracle about the existence of this new witch and come to Earth to seduce her to the evil side in forty-eight hours.

As I previously mentioned, the writer used the resource of a bastard daughter, left in a church by a witch (Patty) and her whitelighter lover (Sam), to restore The Power of Three. Shannen Doherty was certainly the best actress of this show, and will certainly be a great absence. I hope Rose McGowan shows the same chemistry with Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs and saves the series. My vote is nine.

    Title (Brazil): "Encantadas de Novo – Partes 1 e 2" ("Charmed Again – Parts 1 & 2")

Sequel to All Hell Breaks Loose (2001)

Though a seaming non sequitur to All Hell Breaks Loose (2001) the end of season 3. these episodes are more concerned with the recovery of "the Power of Three" (the main foundation of the series) after the dismissal of Shannen Doherty, than why she was lost. The episode All Hell Breaks Loose (2001) ends with an attack by the demon Shax on Prue, Piper and Dr. Griffits with all three blasted, Unconscious & Bleeding. In this episode it is mentioned that Prue & "a prominent doctor" are killed in their home & that Leo saved Piper but was not allowed to save Prue. it also mentions that Cole fled the underworld, saving Phoebe from her promise to remain & making him a trader to "The Source". Though not mentioned in this episode the promise to remain in the previous episode was conditional that Prue & Piper receive a warning of the attack, but that warning was not delivered nulling Phoebes promise to remain.

    • Trivia
When Phoebe learns Paige's name, she has a nearly identical reaction to when Gram's finds out Phoebe's name in "That 70's Episode." She says, "Another P, imagine that!" All four sisters, their mother, and Gram's names begin with the letter P.
    • Goofs
Patty says that Piper and Phoebe were toddlers when she was pregnant with Paige. However, in "That 70s Episode", Piper appears to be about 4 and at that point Patty was barely pregnant with Phoebe so when Paige came along, Piper would have been about 6 and not a toddler as Patty states.
    • Quotes

Patty Halliwell: We didn't tell anybody because we were afraid that there would be reprisals, afraid that, you girls would be denied your powers. Your birthright. It happened after your father and I were divorced, when Sam and I were together.

      Cole: Sam?

      Leo: Her white lighter.

Cole: Apples don't fall far from the forbidden tree, I see.

      Piper Halliwell: Shh! Go on.

Patty Halliwell: You were both toddlers. You just thought Mommy got a little fat. You never knew I was pregnant.

Penny 'Grams' Halliwell: I was the only one who knew.

      Patty Halliwell: And Sam, obviously.

Penny 'Grams' Halliwell: Right. Well, yes, of course.

Patty Halliwell: We wanted to keep the baby, of course. But mother...

Penny 'Grams' Halliwell: Well, I knew it would be disastrous. You know, before you and Leo, Piper, it wasn't just forbidden. It was unthinkable for witches to be with white lighters. I mean, let alone have children with them.

Patty Halliwell: So, that's why we had to, why we decided, to give the baby up. Sam and I took her to a local church as soon as she was born. And we asked the nun there to find a home for her, and she found one. A very, very good home.

      Penny 'Grams' Halliwell: Yes.

Leo: Explains why the Elders didn't know about her.

Phoebe Halliwell: All right, hold it. Wait just one minute. Are you telling me, that that girl, our innocent, is really... our sister?

      Patty Halliwell: Your baby sister.

Penny 'Grams' Halliwell: Their baby half-sister.

Patty Halliwell: But by my half, which makes her a sister witch. Well, actually, not yet anyway. Not until all three of you are here together by the Book. Just like before.

      Penny 'Grams' Halliwell: Charmed. Again.
