    Diane's Base Stupidity

Diane's idiocy knows no bounds. She puts a down payment on a house without consulting Sam. Then when they go there, the old couple that sold it wants one more look. Diane decides that she could never live in a house with other people's memories around. A series of dramatic (but stupid) events take place.

    Sad but still funny

If you still needed evidence that Sam and Diane's relationship is doomed, it's right here. Once again, Sam is being completely rational and sensible, and Diane is... not. But on an emotional level you can't help but sympathise with Diane.

There's a lot of mood swings here (prepping the audience for the season finale), with Diane's maudlin sentimentality undercut by Sam's exasperation ("No, no, I am not putting on a bunny suit for anybody!"). As Norm puts it, "A couple of years ago, this might've taken me by surprise, but now I just kind of roll with it."

(PS: Sam is right about Dogs Playing Blackjack)

The house Sam and Diane buy is the same stage house used in S5 Ep20 (Dinner At 8:00ish) when Frazier and Lilith move in together.
    • Quotes

Carla Tortelli: My life's the pits. Seems like good things happen to everybody except me, you know. Norm has a new job. Frasier actually seems happy since he met his creepy girlfriend. And Sam's given up women and decided to marry Diane. What have I got? Zip. Woody, I mean how do you keep such a sunny disposition in this rotten, stinkin', infested world?

Woody Boyd: You mean, what do I do when I see Mr. Blues peaking around the corner?

Carla Tortelli: God, he even has a cute name for depression.

Woody Boyd: Well, I just close my eyes and think a happy thought. I'll show you.

[closes his eyes and slowly begins to grin broadly]

Carla Tortelli: What was your thought?

Woody Boyd: I'm glad I'm not you.
