Peggy has a bun(dy) in the oven.

Season six kicks off with yet another two-parter and once again the laughs just aren't there for the first part. I really don't like it when the story is split over two episodes.

This one sees Marcy announce that she is pregnant, Al laughing hysterically at the news. The smile is wiped off his face, however, when Peggy reveals that she is also expecting a baby. The rest of the episode sees Kelly and Bud treating Al like dirt while their father dreams of past glories and regrets getting drunk, thereby enabling Peggy to take advantage of him. It's all a bit of a downer, and devoid of witty dialogue and great gags (the dream sequences are particularly lame).

Here's hoping that part two picks up the slack...

When Peg announces that she's pregnant, the audience reacts with a twenty four second long ovation - the longest ever for anything in the show.

Al: Once my kids leave the house, I'll finally be able to do what every man is supposed to. I can watch TV. I can... well, I don't know but it doesn't matter. It's still better than having a screaming, crapping, money-sucking little vampire bobsledding me to the graveyard. God I feel good.

      Peggy: Honey?

      Al: Yes?

      Peggy: Guess what?

      Al: What?

      Peggy: I'M PREGNANT TOO!

Marcy: How far along are you?

      Peggy: Five months.

      Al: Five months?

Peggy: Al, didn't you notice that I was getting fat?

      Al: Well... yeah.
