    An unfocused episode.

Al won't admit to himself that he has reached an age where he needs glasses, but Kelly helps him to accept the truth and choose some eyewear.

This episode was directed by Amanda Bearse, making her directorial debut for the show, and it's very uneven: a mix of the very funny and the painfully bad. On the good side is Al's hilarious reaction to finally having 20/20 vision, the man recoiling in horror whenever he puts his glasses on and sees things he would rather not. The episode's nadir is an embarrassingly bad montage where Al and his kids try on different types of spectacles at a store, the scene set to ZZ Top's Sharp Dressed Man - I cannot stress too much how lame this moment is.

At the end of the episode, Al decides that reality is too much for him to handle (he discovers that a woman he has flirted with is forty, and he can see his wrinkles and bald spot), so he treads on his glasses, content to live in a blurry world.

    Eye Glasses

Al finds out his eyes have been failing and he needs glasses only to discover he hasn't been seeing the world he's living in.

    • Trivia
Although Katey Sagal does not appear in this episode, Peg still appears in the form of a framed photograph and of a voice calling the line "I'm hungry!" from upstairs (this was either an archive recording of Sagal's voice being played back, or someone imitating her).
    • Goofs
Al is shown here to be enjoying and even singing along to the theme song for "The Facts of Life." However, later episodes show that Al absolutely despises that theme song. And even wishing death on whoever wrote it.
