    Monty Landis and Arnold Moss

Broadcast no. 35 (Sept 25 1967), "Everywhere a Sheik, Sheik" was the third episode in a row for Monty Landis, but the first to be aired (36th in production, filmed Apr 25-27). He plays the King of Nehudi, whose daughter, Princess Colette (Donna Loren), must find a husband or marry the evil Vidaru (Arnold Moss). Davy's photo prominently displayed in an open magazine, The Monkees are quickly targeted by Vidaru's henchman (William Bagdad), finally resorting to explosive goblets when poison, knives, and paperweights prove unsuccessful. Bagdad later appeared in the Monkees movie "Head," while Arnold Moss will be familiar from STAR TREK's "The Conscience of the King." Both songs are from the forthcoming fourth LP, PISCES AQUARIUS CAPRICORN & JONES LTD.- "Love is Only Sleeping," a psychedelic masterwork composed by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, was recorded June 19, sung by Nesmith, who plays guitar, with Tork on organ, Jones on tambourine; and "Cuddly Toy," composed by future hitmaker Harry Nilsson, jointly sung by Davy and Micky, the first track recorded for the album (Apr 26), featuring Nesmith on acoustic guitar, Jones on tambourine, Tork on electric piano, and Dolenz on drums. Nilsson would later contribute the Davy Jones number "Daddy's Song" for the movie "Head" (the blonde actress dancing with Davy is choreographer Anita Mann). Next in production- "The Devil and Peter Tork."

    DAVY AND THE PRINCESS. PRICELESS.

The ending is way cool. More to come.

First, all about Davy. In the previous episode, he was groomed to be a teen singing star. Now he's in line to marry a princess! Love it.

The rotten, despicable Vidaru (marvelously played by tall and grim Arnold Moss) is planning to marry innocent princess Colette. She ain't gonna do that, and proceeds to look for someone else, like Davy, whose handsome photo is in a magazine! Say what?

Now this opens another can of worms. Should Davy -- who falls in love with Colette -- marry her AND face being killed himself?

    Stay Tuned folks!

Donna Loren plays Colette, now a podcast producer. At the time she also appeared on BATMAN. Arnold Moss makes a heck of a stone face bad guy.

Now to the best part; that's the voice of producer Bob Rafelson (who passed in 2022) who interviews Davy, Micky, Mike and Peter. And it's a real interview. Way cool. Davy tells the hilarious story about a lady who "mailed" herself to them in a box???

Catch this wild child episode with all the frills, shades of GET SMART too. The costume folks again rule with the fab-tastic wardrobe. The Colors.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 3 remastered Columbia dvd box set. Popular box sets released 2003 and 2011. 6 dvds. There are several other sets available, some very expensive. Shop around. Thank U CATCHY TV.

    • Trivia
The interview at the end of this show was taped almost 8 weeks before it actually aired. The show's slate is dated August 2, 1967, as Peter Tork just barely gets the entire slate within view before dropping it. Micky Dolenz is also seen in the interview with curly hair, but his hair is straight for the main show. It was filmed at the Fred Niles studios during the musical number filming sessions on the "rainbow" set.
    • Goofs
When The Monkees read the wedding invitation at the start of the show, Micky Dolenz wears sunglasses in wide shots but not in close ups.
    • Quotes

King Hassaar Yaduin: The palace has 700 bedrooms, 22 swimming pools and an indoor polo field!

      Micky: 700 bedrooms!

Peter: Yes, but what kind of neighborhood is it in?
