    The third season opener

The third season opener, "Putting the Ork Back in Mork" was originally a one hour broadcast that attempted to restore the sparkle from its first season, after a disastrous second season of sexy shenanigans. Now restored full time in the opening credits, Mindy's father Fred listens as she complains about the changes in Mork, who returns home from his occupation at the Pine Tree day care center, wearing glasses, hair neatly combed, dressed in normal business suit, asking Fred to call him 'Mory.' Fred doesn't think it's serious, but Mindy misses the old eccentric Mork who used to sit on his face and drink with his finger. She blames herself for making Mork more human, and realizes that a fully human Mork can no longer live with her in the apartment, at least until his unique qualities return. By putting her finger in Mork's ear Mindy is able to make an emergency call to Orson, who reports that Mork's Orkan-ness must be restored or he faces being ostracized on his home planet. Mork has to ask his friends how he used to be before, our first look at DaVinci's Restaurant, an upgrade from the New York Delicatessen, Remo (Jay Thomas) and Jeanie (Gina Hecht) the owners, with Nelson Flavor (Jim Staahl) walking in to meet a beautiful widow named Glenda Faye Comstock (Crissy Wilzak, the lone new cast member), revealing that he'd lost his election bid for city council, now comforting the lonely widow. Orson sends down to earth an ancient wise one called The Elder (Vidal I. Peterson), who is revealed to look like a 10 year old boy. All three still billed in the opening credits, Remo and Jeanie appeared in less than a dozen episodes each this third season, Nelson Flavor only present for six.
