The China Syndrome by way of Ork

"The Mork Syndrome" is a play on the recent release "The China Syndrome" only not as funny, opening with an actual Chinese dinner: "no Peking!" Now Mork's ambition is to become a globetrotting traveler, applying for a job with the Air Force, winding up in a lieutenant's uniform before the Captain (Robert Hogan). 30 miles outside town is the sight of a nuclear accident, very hush hush in trying to cover up a radiation leak. Mindy sees the opportunity to brush up on her journalism skills and sets out to uncover the truth with Mork: "wherever you glow, I'll glow!" Mindy wears a mustache while Mork continues to pose as the lieutenant from Ork. The dimwitted Captain unwittingly spills the beans about the other spill, and fails to catch on to the masquerade.

    • Trivia
Mork says it serves the Oilers right for charging over a dollar for a gallon of gas. This episode aired in Dec 1979. In 1979 gasoline steadily raised from 73¢ a gallon to $1.09 and remained above $1 for several years and falling in the late 80s after being under 72¢ for all of 1978. To put this in perspective, the Federal Minimum Wage in 1980 was about $3 an hour.
    • Goofs
Mork claims that, on Ork, there is a substance known as Nuke-Away that comes in original Pine scent and a new Fusion scent, to "clean up tell tell nuclear waste" but yet when he is reporting to Orson later he asks Mork what Nuke means (i.e. short for nuclear), which makes no sense if there is product that uses Nuke in the name.
