Mr. Bean Goes to Town...and makes it his own

One too many episodes where Bean had to take off his clothes and go about in nude. The whole TV aerial scene is brilliant.

I quite like how he caught his camera's thief putting the bin over his head.

I didn't like much of him losing his shoe

And got total laugh when he pesters off dancing rival in disco.

Classic opening sketch and good ones that follow

Mr Bean goes to town starts off with one of his best scenes as he installs his new television. This is Rowan Atkinson at his funniest, plus some very clever concepts involving the TV aerial.

I also very much enjoy the short scene with the shoe, which includes some clever use of the camera to place the missing shoe in and out of various shots in a humorous way.

The camera thief for me is pretty funny, but is more about the silly way Bean handles the situation rather than Atkinson's physical performance, so it's not my favourite of the collection, but still enjoyable.

I think the Club Phut scene has some standout moments that are not just comedy, but also induce a bit of sympathy for the character at his low point in the disco. It finishes well though with some classic Bean vindictiveness.

    In trouble, and shoeless.

After having some camera, and aerial problems, Mr Bean accompanies his girlfriend to a club.

The fourth episode from this great series, and here, if you weren't already fully aware, you'll see just how physically funny Rowan Atkinson is. The expressions, movements and overall presence are wonderfully funny.

If you are up in this era, you'll understand his pain with the TV aerial, I can remember making a young cousin hold the aerial in an awkward position so that I could watch Blue Peter, people have no idea what misery that TV tuner dial could cause.

Loved it, found the scenes with that magician and the dancing rivalry to be the best, overall, it was very funny, 8/10.

    Witty

I like the bit where he put a bin on the blokes head and poked him with a pencil

    I don't get it

I've been a fan of British comedy for a long time and enjoy most of it...but Mr. Bean mystifies me. It's not funny. I'd go so far to say that it's annoying. Comedy is as subjective as any other art form and some might this hilarious. Those providing the laughter for these episodes find EVERYTHING funny. Nothing Bean does gets a wave of laughter. I wish I could share in the hilarity but it doesn't get even a chuckle. I was reading the Wikipedia article about the Blake Edwards "comedy" The Party with Peter Sellers playing an Indian character wandering through a party and it was noted how Rowan Atkins was inspired by the film and one can see the origins of Mr. Bean as he bumbles from one ridiculous situation to another. The only appealing thing about any Bean skit is the appearance of Matilda Ziegler and her reactions to his behaviour are closest it comes to amusing.
