The guy from "Petticoat Junction" is a highlight...

This is a crummy episode (in my opinion) with the small highlight of having the singing guy from "Petticoat Junction" on it. And his dad was the producer of the show so no surprise here. Robbie and Katie move away because of a new job Robbie has. Katie meets a neighbor who says that a woman should not have kids because it tries down a man and ruins his life. And the "Petticoat Junction" guy is their neighbor is a carefree single guy and is very happy. So this makes Katie think that she and the triplets are a ball and chain dragging Robbie down (and cynical me has to wonder if she is indeed right). She talks to Steve and then Robbie and seems to come to the conclusion that Robbie is not being tied down. However in the first episode of the next Season, Robbie is in Peru on business an he never returns to the series. I think this episode might have been a "backdoor pilot" for a series with Katie and Robbie. I really don't think it would have worked. In my opinion. You are welcome to yours.

    WAY AFTER THE HONEYMOON.

I agree with the last reviewer, especially by the end of the 11th season, this episode may have been a "test run" for a spin-off series with Robbie and Katie. Only debit it came too late. Still thoughtful writing by George Tibbles, adding a bit more drama as opposed to sitcom schtick.

Robbie is laid off, and with three children to support, he jumps at an offer to take a job in San Francisco. But is it all good news? The interesting switch here is Katie begins the long debate as to whether Robbie is really happy, what with three children and a wife to support -- not that long after they got married. This story has its moments.

Couple of bright spots though, such as comedian Pat Carroll married to tv tough guy Richard X. Slattery. They make an interesting couple. Mike Minor, from PETTICOAT JUNCTION, has a very differnt role, playing an unmarried neighbor named Charley -- who gets Katie thinking and thinking.

FYI: Real life triplets Michael (Robbie, Jr), Joseph (Charley, Jr) and Daniel Todd (Steve, Jr) make a welcome appearance. Michael is still acting to this day.

Tribute to Pat Carroll, who passed in 2022.

SEASON 11 remastered color for tv. All 12 seasons are finally on dvd in a single box set for collectors. Thanks to CATCHY TV for running every single episode.
