Trivia
"Mensch" is a German noun meaning a "human". In Yiddish, "mensch" roughly means "a good person." It means a particularly good person, like a stand-up guy. (Sandy: That's 'cause, Ryan Atwood ... you're a mensch. And after tonight, I'm gonna tell you what that means.)

Goofs
Sandy realizes and mentions to Kirsten that it is the first holiday since her dad died. Though this is the first holiday shown, Thanksgiving would have been the first major holiday since Caleb died in May.

However, considering the date and the box with ornaments, it is obvious that Sandy is referring to Christmas, not to any holiday.
