Not Quite Playing by the Rules

A man who has lost everything tries suicide. He is rescued, resuscitated, and put in an institution. While he is there we find out that he claims to have been abducted by aliens. He says he has been experimented on brutalized by them. The young man suspects that those running the institution are themselves aliens and that he needs to escape. He comes to fall in love with a pretty young woman who has the same story. He believes that an insect-like implant has been put into the necks of the patients, including one who experiences constant disdain from his peers. He seems to have a technical knowledge of things that are going on. All this is intriguing throughout, but dies on the vine later. All I will say is that when we get to the end, it is pretty unsatisfying. Still, the claustrophobic nature of things is well done.
