Toxic men? This is the 90s lol

You can tell whoever wrote the scathing review is very young or at least very bitter and resentful. The fact they take an episode of THE OUTER LIMITS and compare it to Gattaca or Star Trek is laughable. I watched this with my wife who is a 26 year old staunch feminist and has converted myself as well. We didn't really pick up on any kind of mysoginistic vibe so I'm not sure where thats coming from. I guess some people are more sensitive than others to political correctness. The "toxic men" gripe you could literally say about every episode of this series. This wasn't made in the 2020s, it was made in the '90s. Times were different(I admit people of color and marginalized groups had a tough time back then and still do) but if you hold a series of the past to todays standards, you are missing out on some great storytelling. And frankly its a pretty sanctimonious mindset that isn't any better than the "toxic men" portrayed in the episode. That person must not enjoy anything made pre-2020s so picking this show to watch was kind of pointless. My I suggest the Joy Luck Club if you want to watch something politically correct that was made in the '90s?

Finally, the episode is great. When we find out whats really going on its very sad and creepy. And like every other Outer Limits episode, it ends with a great twist and a moody quip from Kevin Conway. Man I love this show.

    We're Not Good Enough

This is an interesting comment on our society. It's about a culture that puts so much stock in beauty and intelligence, that parents are willing to risk jail time to achieve this for their children. We are already guilty of much of this, sacrificing ourselves so our kids can have braces, dermatology, and even implants. The young couple is pregnant and they contact a man who can pretty much guarantee that their child will have the good looks and the smarts to compete in an ever more competitive world. He even points out how plain and simple they are to clinch the deal (in reality they are quite an attractive couple). The problem is that this procedure is illegal because occasionally in rare cases a child is born grotesque and violent. The subplot is a set of neighbors, formerly close friends of the principle couple, who sound like they are having full scale battles. The wife is seen with scars and contusions and it is suspected that the husband is beating her. While you can see the conclusion a mile away, it makes a comment on what we have become as a culture.
