    The Game is the Thing

Without logically developed plots, something like this goes nowhere. Pat Morita has another Karate Kid here in the guise of a kind of ultimate fighter. He has never attained his main goal of winning a huge tournament. He is approached by Morita and offered an opportunity to excel by using some really weird system that will slow down time. At no time is it adequately explained and while he is successful, it is taking a real toll on his body. He is also flipping in and out of reality. His beautiful wife wants him to quit but he is obsessed with the glamor of being a winner. Everything that happens is left unexplained. There is no real science at work here so we just have to take Morita's word for it that things will work. The conclusion is utterly without substance. Just another tale lacking in true scientific imagination

Control Voice: Evolution is guided by the principle of survival of the fittest. For the human animal, the urge to compete is ingrained in our spirit. But in some arenas, the rules are not clear, and victory may well be an illusion.
