    Gerald Hiken and Nancy Walker

"Aspirin at 7, Dinner at 8" marks the return of Gerald Hiken's Dr. Bernie Applebaum, previously seen in "In 25 Words or Less," longtime pediatrician for Shirley's children, now determined to take her out on a date. Thinking nothing of dining in such a romantic setting as the hospital commissary, he practically starves poor Shirley by ordering only the healthiest of food for her to eat. Nancy Walker (mother of Valerie Harper's Rhoda Morgenstern) is in her element as Bernie's mother, who remains convinced that wedding bells will soon sound for her bachelor offspring. This was the third and final script from SOAP/THE GOLDEN GIRLS creator Susan Harris. The featured song is "One Day at a Time," composed by Terry Cashman and T. P. West, previously heard in "A Likely Candidate" (from the LP CROSSWORD PUZZLE).
