Summaries

  • Everyone is against Burt Farwell marrying Rita Conover--especially his daughter, who is having severe problems over it. Rita is "no hit" with Burt's ranch hands, either. When Rita is murdered, the family tries to cover for one another.
  • Ranch owner Burt Farwell is marrying Rita Conover soon, which prompts his ex-wife Jill to consult Perry Mason about the welfare of their daughter Ann, who is away at a private boarding school. Ranch foreman Joe Dixon is also concerned about Ann. Unknown to Burt, Rita and ranch hand Rennie Foster seem to be an item. Perry calls Burt to discuss Ann's emotional health. Insecure about her future, Rita urges Burt to fly with her to Las Vegas to be married immediately. At school, Ann gives a new pair of red cowboy boots, a gift from her mother, to her best friend Kathy Jergens. Joe has a flat on the road; when he opens the trunk to change the tire, he discovers Rita's body. A police officer stops to ask him about a recent car wreck, but he takes Joe into custody when he sees the body in the trunk. Perry defends Joe, who is hardly the only suspect in the case.—Anonymous
  • Burt and Jill Farwell have gone through an amicable divorce and he is about to marry the beautiful Rita Conover, but his teenage daughter Ann is dead-set against the marriage. Some of Burt's ranch employees, including Rennie Foster and foreman Joe Dixon, have problems with Rita and object to the marriage. When Rita's dead body is found in the trunk of a car Joe is driving, he is charged with murder and Perry Mason defends him. Perry's biggest challenge in this case is to get the people involved to stop trying to protect the others and just tell the truth.—garykmcd
