    Louie Comes Clean

No more laundromats for me, especially if a guy named Louie runs it. No telling what you'll find in the dryer. It's a Gunn goodie with imagination and suspense. Pete's hired by Louie to square his bank robbery with the law and get gangster 'Shoes' off his back. Trouble is Shoes wants the bank loot, while Louie wants to give it back and get a normal life with his girlfriend.

Catch how Pete hangs around in more ways than one; plus there's that ping-pong match my 3-year old grandkid could win. But don't miss the luscious Pamela Duncan whose tight-sweater career was made by the camp classic Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957). (I'm still seeing that through the dirty windshield of my old Pontiac.) Anyhow, it's first-rate Gunn, with Edie, Jacobi, and a clever last scene.

    Hot Money

Hot Money has Blake Edwards being very stylish again. Although he is not the director.

You can almost forget about the story and look at the visuals.

The opening scene has some hoodlums walking into a launderette and putting a body in the dryer.

It was an opening shot to launderette owner Louis Anza. He and the dead man were involved in a heist. They stole 1 million dollars several month earlier.

The bills were marked so they cannot spend the money. Now some hoodlums are after the money and him

Anza wants Peter Gunn to return the money. In return no criminal charges would be pressed on Anza so he can run and hide.

For Gunn he will get a finders fees for returning the money. A win win but soon Edie is kidnapped.

Gunn needs to turn the tables on the hoodlums and needs Jacoby's help. A visual feast.

    • Trivia
The stolen money is in $1000 bills. When this show aired, $1000 bills were still in use. The U.S. Mint had stopped printing $1000 bills in 1945; but they were not recalled (taken out of circulation by the Federal Reserve) until 1969. Existing $1000 bills command very high prices from collectors.
