    Bottom feeding Dangerfields

Eric Fleming, Clint Eastwood and the rest of the trail herders run into a dying Dorothy Morris who's been shot and soon after find her abandoned infant of whom Paul Brinegar is put in charge of. They also find a small herd that's been infected with ticks and they mingle them with the Gil Favor herd not knowing that.

This is part of a real bottom feeding scheme by a pair of brothers named Dangerfield who own a dipping station. They extort a nice piece of a passing herd for the privilege of using the facilities. The brothers are a nasty pair Douglas Kennedy and his punk fast gun brother Philip Pine.

Soon enough Alan Baxter comes into the drover's camp and he's the husband of Morris. He's got a nice score to settle with Kennedy and Pine whose sins against him are thievery and murder. Baxter is also a fast gun though retired.

The guest cast really owns this fine Rawhide story. Not one for a fan of the series to miss.

    • Trivia
One of the very few times Gil Favor bellows "Head 'em up! Move 'em out!" twice in one incident: once at the dip and again at the end.
    • Quotes

Gil Favor: On the trail to Sedalia, Missouri - day to day - you fall into the habit of tryin' to read your men, guess what makes 'em tick. But you don't make much headway. Isn't easy to figure grown-up humans who take this kind of life for thirty bucks a month and keep. So you finally give up. And you're just glad there's a breed like 'em to get the beeves to where they're goin'. I've got a good reason to be glad. My name's Gil Favor, trail boss.
