    Exciting episode

Ian Oglivy as the Saint is coming to the rescue once more in a second to last Episode before the series prematurely ended ( despite being a big hit), and is out to nab the callous kidnappers who killed his friend. A member of the gang absconds with the money, his irate former compadres hunt for him, and in a cat and mouse chase around the cobbled streets of Italy, Simon Templar is out looking for the former gang member, and ends up in the crosshairs of the gang...

An exciting episode that builds up to a nice crescendo. Nice locations, a live wire plot and Ian Oglivy oozing charm effortlessly ( Roger Moore would be proud)

    Appointment in Florence

Shades of the 1978 Aldo Moro kidnapping and death by a far left terrorist group in Italy.

A wealthy friend of Simon Templar is kidnapped on a skiing trip. He is killed by a faction of the Red Brigade, despite the ransom demands being met.

The Saint is out for revenge. A lead comes his way in the shape of Lea, the girlfriend of Ingo (James Aubrey.) A terrorist upset by the murder and who absconds with the ransom money.

Ingo is being pursued by faction's sadistic leader, Manfred (Stuart Wilson) and the other gang members. It is a case of whether Simon Templar can get to Ingo first.

The episode is let down by some terrible dubbing. I think even Wilson might be dubbed with his Germanic accent. He is terrifying here, more so than his turn as the chief villain in Lethal Weapon 3.

Some of the lightheartedness sits uneasily with the terrorism theme, given the real life events that took place in Italy in the late 1970s.

Simon Templar: [narrating] There's something about a ski resort. The air is very pure. Encouraging and promoting an appetite for wine, women and song. Though not necessarily in that order. It seemed that this vacation with my old friend, Christian van Esser, was going to confine itself to these harmless pleasures. But then, as is often the case with me, things started to happen...
